I've moved. Already? Already!

I can't say I've been very happy with Blogger so far. But I've found a good alternative! My own domain. It gives me so much more freedom. Though I do wish I hadn't gotten those postcards printed yet, now. Sigh.

You can still follow my posts through RSS, though if anyone wants me to put up a Goole Friend Connect link so they can keep following me through that, speak up and I'll see what I can do. The site's still brand new and I'm changing things all the time.

Now, then. Proceed to By The World Forgot.

Tooth, Fang & Claw. Also, an announcement!

Hey all, me again. Figured I'd break up that Portrait series with a few unrelated pictures and an announcement! First of all, I've got a domain now and when it's all up and running it'll be a place for me to display my pictures all at once, gallery style. I'll be keeping this blog, so as to let you know when there's new stuff to be seen. Joy of joys!

I'm in a good mood, it seems. That might have to do with the fact that I spent my day at the zoo again. This time I visited Ouwehands Dierenpark, in order to meet up with some HCC folk. I didn't get to talk to many of them, seeing as I was predictably busy being distracted by ooh-- animals, OOH, workshops!

Anyway, I ended up learning one or two things from the workshops, but mostly? I learned from all the people around me, talking about what they loved doing. It's comforting to be surrounded by people with a passion for a much loved hobby. Anyway, I should probably stop ranting. As the title of this post suggests, there'll be no prettily prancing birds or beautiful butterflies in here today. The nasties need love too! On with the pictures!

Back to editing!

Portrait Series, week 02 - The Emu

Standing around a bunch of emus while snapping away with your camera is a strange and sometimes borderline painful experience for someone who loves to soak up animal knowledge. Around every 3.4 minutes, a mother will come by and roll her child up to the chain link fence. She will then proceed to point at the large bird before exclaiming proudly (and, it appears, inevitably), "Look, an ostrich! They're BIG, aren't they?" True story.

Portrait Series, week 01 - The Spider Monkey

This is the start of my Portrait series, with which I hope to show people the way I view animals. More next week!

Around him, every other monkey enclosure was brimming with activity. If they weren't climbing, they were jumping, bouncing, digging, fighting. Not him, sitting on one log with his head hanging and tongue poking out at everyone who thought to pass by. I couldn't help but think he might not be doing it on purpose-- but then, if he was, who could blame him?
